Ask any IT expert for a cookie cutter approach to protect customer data and there might not be much of an answer. After all, hackers are just one group to worry about when looking to prevent the theft of customers' personal information. Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard

On September 7, 2006, American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International announced the creation of an independent council to manage the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.
