Princeton University: Security Analysis of the Diebold AccuVote-TS Voting Machine

Princeton University's Center For Information Technology Policy has published a research paper based on their independent review of the information security of the Deibold AccuVote-TS voting machine.  This report along many other calls by voting rights groups in the United States, have been sounding the alarm over the current technical insecurity and vulnerabilities found in most of the common electronic voting systems.  On Tuesday November 7, 2006 as most Americans head to the voting polls in elections across the country, few media outlets are sounding the alarm and warning Americans of the grave dangers for election fraud that current electronic systems present.

Images of the hanging chads of paper ballots in the 2000 U.S. presidential election, pale in comparison to the possibility of electronic ballot fraud, as most systems do not have the appropriate security and audit protections to help identify any potential fraud.

If you vote in next Tuesday's election, make sure your vote counts.  Here are some sites with information on the current state of voting systems in use across the country and voter information.

Being an informed and active voter in the U.S. is one of the highest civic duties we can individually accomplish for the benefit of our democracy.
